Gateshead College Sept/Oct 11

Gateshead College is a further education college in the town of Gateshead, England. Established on November 15, 1955 at Durham Road in Low Fell, Gateshead, the original campus was closed as part of a planned move in January 2008. The college moved into a £39 million new main site located at the Baltic Quayside in Gateshead.

This photo was taken fairly recently only a month or so ago

This was the last photo my camera took before deciding that it no longer wanted to live

This room above was absolutely pitch black not that having it painted black helped

Is this place still there? I heard demo had commenced, just wondering because I still fancy a look.

According to MrDistopia its still standing. Theres a few others who want to have a look as well.

Yup, fully intact but i swear the cams have moved and some have suspicious new wiring - or could be my overactive immagination.

I've always found the wiring suspicious, because theres two types of camera I noticed the first time I went ones with white wiring and the older ones with black wiring.

Just an update really, drove passed the other day on durham road, they have put up a large wooden fence around the site and demo crew are in and started to pull down the outer single floor buildings. Just wondering how long it will be before they move onto the main building itself ??

They were putting up the fence last time I was there about 2 weeks ago. I'm quite happy to see it going if I'm honest, its a horrible building and the pikies pulling it apart don't help.
