Ushaw College - 2 explores 1 report - March 2012

Ushaw College, a former Catholic seminary and college of the University of Durham, covers 400 acres in the village of Ushaw Moor in the UK. It was founded in 1808 by scholars from English College, Douai, who had fled France after that college had been closed during the French Revolution. Ushaw College had been affiliated with the University of Durham since 1968 and shut in 2011 due to a shortage of vocations in the Catholic Church. The buildings and grounds are now occupied and maintained by the Ushaw charitable trust (Jammy and his crew!), and Durham University Business School will be using the buildings from April 2012 for two years, whilst its own site is redeveloped.

I actually took some external photos on the first visit. Yay me!

Visit 1

In attendance were GhostCamera, Krypton, Jippers, BlueBird, Blood-Bandit, Vietnam, and of course, myself.


The exterior. Very pretty. The new end just doesn't have the same character.


I didn't see security guards OR dogs on both visits! THEY LIE


No smoking, or the plant will eat you.

Probably isn't much good for drying hands these days.





Well, it wouldn't be an Ezykiel report without some peely paint, right?


I don't even want to know what the crap all over the cable is...

Visit 2

A smaller group this time, Jippers, Krypton and Blood-Bandit attended.
Thanks to Jippers for lending me his spare tripod, because mine still hasn't bloody arrived.

This didn't come out at all how I wanted it to, but I really like the end product. (Thanks to Jippers for holding the spotlight for me :thumb)


My organ shot from the last visit was awful, because it was really dark in the chapel and I had to use flash. Thank god for light days!


I can't decide if I prefer this book in the dark or the light.


Krypton doing a silly run down the aisle while I was lining up a shot gave me the perfect opportunity to try face blurring.
